How to Fix Gray Boxes Printing in Letters

How to Fix Gray Boxes Printing in Letters

PROBLEM

  • Gray boxes are printing where the digital signature should be.

CAUSE

The style of the digitized signature merge fields has been changed to the default style.

SOLUTION

For Gorilla to replace the gray boxes with the digitized signatures, the MS Word style of those boxes must be set correctly.

  1. Start Gorilla, and then click Messaging>Document Manager.
  2. Locate the letter you are trying to print, highlight it, then click the Edit button. This will bring up the “Define Message” window.
  3. Select either “Edit Single” or “Edit Plural” as appropriate. This will open the letter in MS Word.
  4. Click once on the first signature box to select it:

  5. Change the style field on your formatting toolbar by clicking on the style dialogue box (on the Styles Group in the Home Tab):

  6. Choose Apply Styles

  7. Select the style “Digitized Signature-1” and then Reapply.

  8. Repeat steps 4-7 for the second signature box, but this time choosing “Digitized Signature-2” as the style.
  9. Click on the Add-Ins, choose “Save and Exit to Gorilla” and click “Yes” when asked.
  10. Print the letter normally, you will now see the digital signatures instead of the gray boxes.
If you have gray boxes appearing in other places, you can change their styles the same way, just be sure to choose the appropriate style for each box. Below is a list of styles for each box.
