Preparation

Before you proceed with the Gorilla installation, answer the following questions and fill in the Installation Checklist. You may want to arrange for your IT to be available.
  1. Do all computers that will have Gorilla installed meet our system requirements? (Refer to the Hardware Specifications.)
  2. Does your network meet our system requirements? (Refer to the Hardware Specifications.)
  3. Print the checklist on page 3 and fill it in as you answer the questions below. Print 1 copy of the checklist for up to 10 workstations. Print 1 copy of the SMTP settings for each computer using SMTP. If you have specialized printer settings, print that page as well.
  4. Is Gorilla currently running on a network?
  5. Where is the database located? (In Gorilla, go to Tools>Options>Directories to see the location of your database and data folders. Everyone in the office should be pointing to the same database and data folder.)
  6. Where is the Gorilla Data Folder located?
  7. List the version of Gorilla currently in use. In Gorilla, go to Help, About to see the   version number.  Note : All computers accessing Gorilla need to have the same version installed. If this is currently not the case, contact Software Support.
  8. Which computers need to have Gorilla installed? List the computers in the order you will likely upgrade.  Note : Gorilla does not need to be installed on the network server if it is just hosting your database and data files. As you upgrade each workstation, mark it completed.
  9. Which installation type is needed for each computer?  Circle M (Master), NM (Non-Master), or S (Satellite) for each computer on your checklist.
    1. Master Setup  – Gorilla is installed with the full program and all of the utilities. We recommend using this installation type for the CO’s computer.
    2. Non-Master Setup  – Gorilla is installed with the full program, and does not include the database utilities. This installation type is recommended for other users in your office.
    3. Satellite Setup  – A limited version of Gorilla is installed. You will not be able to do Messaging or Campaigns. This installation type is used if you cannot connect to the database through a network.
    4. Upgrade From a Previous Version –  Upgrades from an existing version of Gorilla to the latest version. This option should only be used if you already have a previous version of Gorilla installed on your computer.
  10. On each computer, check to see if SMTP settings are being used. To do this, in Gorilla, go to  Tools, Options, Messaging  and see if the checkbox next to  Send email using SMTP  is checked. If SMTP is used, enter  Y  in that column and fill out the SMTP Settings Checklist for that computer.
  11. On each computer, check to see if you have special printer settings. If so, enter  Y  in that column and fill out a Printer Settings Checklist for that computer. To check, in Gorilla, go to  Tools, Options, Printers  and record the settings.

Note: If you are upgrading from a previous version of Gorilla, you will need to upgrade the database and install the new version on all computers before anyone accesses the upgraded database.
