Tech Talk - Customizing and Using Speedbuttons

Overview of Speedbuttons

What they are
Speedbuttons perform, or help perform, one or more operations on a Contact Group.  It ensures that a process is done the same way, with no step getting forgotten, every single time.

What they can do
A Speedbutton can be programmed to perform the following commands

  • Add Action
  • Add Note
  • Add Objective
  • Set up a Message
  • Add or Delete a Keyword
  • Add or Delete Investment Type
  • Add or Delete Investment Position
  • Add or Delete Keyword
  • Set First Contact Date
  • Change Status Info o Updates Comm Status, List, Type, Book, or Wealth

Pause for User Editing
If turned on the Speedbutton will pause at that step whenever the Speedbutton is run.
If turned off you will not see that step when running the Speedbutton.

Date offset
Many Speedbutton commands have their date field offset from the Speedbutton run date or from the Due Date of the Speedbutton’s objective.
Mass Speedbutton Runs
A mass Speedbutton run allows you to run a chosen Speedbutton on all contact groups within a selection rule.  In order to run it you need 2 things.  A Selection Rule that includes all the CGs that need the Speedbutton run and a Speedbutton that will do the steps you want it to.
We recommend having pause for user editing turned off if you are going to do a mass Speedbutton run, especially if there are multiple steps to the Speedbutton.

Look through the cheatsheet for the Speedbutton group you are customizing.  On a separate sheet of paper write out the process your office is currently using.

Compare the two processes and see what the differences are.  Compare the differences and add/delete any steps necessary.

Make all notes about changes on the cheatsheet.

Give the cheatsheet to your CO to make the changes in the system.
