How to Install a Clean Playground Database in Gorilla® 4.3

How to Install a Clean Playground Database in Gorilla® 4.3

DESCRIPTION

Each time a person goes through the BGM University® Tutorials, new data is added and changes are made to the playground. Additionally, the Playground is commonly used to test the addition and alteration of things before making those changes in the live database. This will make it difficult for subsequent people to do the BGM University Tutorials on that machine.

For that reason, Bill Good Marketing has posted a clean version of the Playground Database and Data folders in the BGM University for download. These instructions will walk you through download and replacement of your old Playground with a clean, fresh copy.

WARNING: Following these instructions will replace your existing Playground data, permanently deleting all changes made to your Playground Database and Data.

QUESTIONS THAT APPLY TO THIS TOPIC

  • How do I refresh my Playground?
  • How do I get a clean version of Playground for the tutorials?

ANSWER

The clean version of the Gorilla database and data folder available for Gorilla 4.3 is found on the BGM University and will allow you to have new clean data to allow you to follow the exercises in the BGM University Tutorials or for other purposes.

Downloading the Clean Playground:

  1. Go to the BGM University home page.
  2. Select the Download a Fresh Copy of the Gorilla 4.3 Playground link on the BGM University home page.
  3. When prompted, save the Fresh_Playground_43.zip file to the location of your local Gorilla Playground folder.
    • Example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bill Good Marketing\Gorilla CRM FS 4.3\Playground.

Notes:

It is important that you save the Fresh_Playground_43.zip file to the Playground folder on your network and not in the root folder of Gorilla CRM 4.3. Doing so helps to prevent the accidental replacement of the actual database and data folder of your live Gorilla System.

Installing the Clean Playground:

  1. Before starting anything, do a database backup.
  2. WARNING: Do not proceed with the following steps until you have a weekly backup of your Gorilla Database and Data folders and have read these instructions completely.
  3. Ensure Playground is closed on your computer.
  4. Go to the playground folder on your computer’s local drive.
    • Example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bill Good Marketing\Gorilla CRM FS 4.3\Playground.
  5. Right click on the Playground Database Folder and select Delete.
    • Example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bill Good Marketing\Gorilla CRM FS 4.3\Playground\Database.
  6. Right click on the Playground Data Folder and select Delete.
    • Example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bill Good Marketing\Gorilla CRM FS 4.3\Playground\Data.
  7. Right click the Fresh_Playground_43.zip and select Explore.
  8. Click and drag the Database and Data folders to the Playground folder.
    • Example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bill Good Marketing\Gorilla CRM FS 4.3\Playground.
  9. Start Gorilla Playground as normal.
