How to Fix Runtime Error 4605

PROBLEM

  • When Using Word 2013 with Gorilla, and trying to open the letter to "View" from within the Send Message Window, you get the message; Run-time error '4605': The Unexpected method or property is not available because this command is not available for reading.

CAUSE

This error is caused by Word not being able to open the letter in read view, instead of print view.

SOLUTION

  1. Close Gorilla and Word, and verify there are no background instances running.
    1. Open the Task Manager, click  More details , then click the  Details  tab.
    2. Search the entire list for “GorillaCRM.exe” and "WINWORD.exe" and end them.
  2. Open Microsoft Word to a blank document.
  3. Click File->Options to open the options window.
  4. Ensure "General" is selected on the left, then find the  Start up options  subsection.
  5. Uncheck "Open e-mail attachments and other uneditable files in reading view".

  6. Click OK to save the Word options.
  7. Ensure the letter is set to Print Layout, and not Read Mode or Web Layout.
    1. At the top of Word, Click View->Print Layout
  8. Close out of Word, reopen Gorilla and try to view the letter again.
