- How do I change the list field or communication status for all the people in a selection rule?
ANSWER
Using a speedbutton is an easy way to make quick updates to contact groups in your database. Doing a mass speedbutton run is like running a speedbutton on every contact group in a selection rule automatically.
Preparing for a Mass Speedbutton Run
Below is a list of a few things to prepare for before doing a mass speedbutton run.
- Make sure the contact groups you want to do the mass speedbutton run on are already in a selection rule. If not, you will need to make a selection rule for them.
- Create the speedbutton that you want to run through Tools Speedbuttons. When setting the commands for the speedbuttons, make sure to uncheck the “Pause for user editing” checkbox. If you leave it checked, you will get a pop up for each contact group.
Performing the Mass Speedbutton Run
Before starting the procedure, make a backup copy of your database. Make sure that the selection rule you are using is correct, and that the speedbutton is set up right. Once you perform the mass speedbutton run, there is no undo option.
To perform the mass speedbutton run:
- Click Tools>Mass Speedbutton Run.
- Choose the selection rule and the speedbutton you will be running on it.
- Click OK.
