How to Create a Speedbutton
QUESTIONS THAT APPLY TO THIS TOPIC
- How do I create a new Speedbutton?
ANSWER
- Select “Tools” on the menu bar.
- Select “Speedbuttons.”
- Once in the Speedbutton screen, pick which category that you wish to add a Speedbutton to.
- Now pick the “Group” you wish to create the Speedbutton in.
- Go to the “Speedbuttons” menu in the menu bar and click “New Speedbutton.”
- On the right side of the screen enter a Speedbutton name and a description of what the Speedbutton does. Click the “Save” button at the bottom of the screen.
- Go to the “Speedbuttons” in the menu bar and click “New Command.”
- Click on the drop down menu on the right side of the screen and choose a Command Type. You can choose from the following commands:
- Add Action
- Add Interest
- Add Investment (Investment Type)
- Add Keyword
- Add Note
- Add Objective
- Add Position (Investment Position)
- Change Status Info
- Changes List, Comm Status, CG Type, Book, or Wealth
- Delete Interest
- Delete Investment (Investment Type)
- Delete Keyword
- Delete Position (Investment Position)
- Set First Contact Date
- Setup Message
- In the “Comment” field enter a short description of what the command is intended to do.
- The “Offset from Parent Objective” is only used with the “Add Objective” command type. It allows you to offset from the date of the objective, not the date the speed button is being run.
- The “Date offset” option will offset the date from the date the item is run. For example, if you enter a date offset of 7, the item will show up one week from the date the Speedbutton was run.
- The “Pause for User Editing” option determines whether or not you will be allowed to edit the item when you run the Speedbutton. If you are simply adding a Keyword with the Speedbutton, you may want to leave this option unchecked. Whereas if you are adding a note, you will want to leave this checked so you can change the specific contents of the note for the Contact Group you are running the Speedbutton on.
- Lastly, click on the “Edit Command Data.” Each command will bring up a separate window with options for the command type you have selected. Set these up how you want them to be when you run the Speedbutton.
