ANSWER

There are several ways of sending multiple messages with Gorilla. One way is to create a very simple campaign which you can edit whenever you want to automate and manage a mass mailing.

There are two steps in using a campaign in this manner: creating the campaign and running the campaign.

To create a simple campaign

  1. Start Gorilla as usual.
  2. Click on “Campaigns” on the menu bar, then click on “Campaign Editor”.
  3. Click on “File” on the menu bar, then click on “New”. This will bring up a new, blank campaign.
  4. Right-click on “Campaign Track: Track 1” and select “New”, then “Mass Mailing”.

  5. The “Add/Edit Mass Mailing – Track 1\Event Date 1” window will appear. In the box labeled “Description”(A), enter “Print/Send multiple letters” or any similar description.
  6. Click on the small button next the box labeled “Letter”(B) and select the letter you wish to send.

  7. In the box labeled “recipient” (C), select the appropriate post (this will usually be the computer operator, or CO, post). Please note that this is not who will actually receive the letter; it’s who in your office will be assigned the task of printing the letter from the campaign.
  8. Under the box “Action Appears”(D), click the option “Same Day”.

  9. Change any other options as desired. Do not change the options under “Multi-Pass Printing” at this time. When you’ve changed all the options, click the button labeled “OK”. You’ll now see your campaign track in the campaign editor.

  10. Next you’ll save the campaign. Click “File” on the menu tool bar, then click “Save”.
  11. In the box labeled “Name, enter “Print Multiple Letters”. In the box labeled “Description”, enter “One-Step Campaign to print and track multiple messages”. Click the button labeled “OK”.

You have now completed the creation of a simple campaign. The next step is to run the campaign.

To Run the Campaign Just Created

  1. Start Gorilla.
  2. Click “Campaigns” on the menu toolbar, then click “Campaign Wizard”. In the “Campaign Wizard” window, select the campaign you just created, “Print Multiple Letters”, then click the button labeled “Next”. The “Campaign Wizard – General Options” window will appear.

  3. Choose a selection rule that selects the contact groups who will receive this message. This can be done by either clicking on the down arrow to scroll through the complete list of selection rules, or by clicking on the tree view button (“…”). If desired, you can also adjust the other settings for this window, such as the assigned team, originator, and team experience level. This is not necessary for this campaign. Click the button labeled “Next”.

  4. The “Campaign Wizard – Event Dates” window will appear.
  5. For this simple campaign, click the button labeled “Next”. This will open the “Campaign Wizard – Documents” window.
  6. Click on the button with the three dots (“…”) next to the Print campaign step. The “Setup Campaign Mailing” window will appear.

  7. Complete the options in this window as needed. When all the options are filled out, click on the button labeled “OK”.

  8. You’ll be returned to the “Campaign Wizard – Documents” window. Click “Next”, then click “Finish”.
  9. On the toolbar menu, click “Campaigns”, then click on “Campaign Manager”.
  10. Click on “File” on the toolbar menu, then “Open”.
  11. Locate the campaign “Print Multiple Letters” with the appropriate date, then double-click on it to open. You’ll be returned to the “Campaign Manager” window, which will show the campaign you created.
  12. In the lower part of the window is the “Campaign Steps” tab. Click on this tab to display the steps defined in your campaign.

  13. Locate the step called “Mass Mail” and double-click on it. This will bring up the “Send Campaign Mailing” window.
  14. Change any options in this window as needed. If you want to perform a test print before printing to the entire selection rule, change the number in the “Max to Print” box to “1” and uncheck the “Create History” box. This will print only a single letter and will not create a history item for the contact group. If you’re not performing a test print, leave the “Max to Print” value unchanged and the “Create History” box checked.
  15. You may now either print immediately by clicking on the button labeled “Send Now”, or wait to print later by clicking on the button labeled “Save”. This will save your settings so you can come back and print later.
