How to Change Envelope and Label Templates

QUESTIONS THAT APPLY TO THIS TOPIC

  • How do I change the font size on my envelopes/labels?
  • How do I change the color of the print on my envelopes/labels?
  • How can I change the font on my envelopes/labels?

ANSWER

There are two ways of making changes to the font details for labels/envelopes. The first applies only to the current print job and therefore must be changed each time envelopes/labels are printed. The second applies to all print jobs involving envelopes and labels and doesn’t require changing each time envelopes/labels are printed.

Method 1: Changing envelope and label settings through Gorilla.

This method launches a Word configuration window from within Gorilla, allowing you to change certain envelope and letter settings without having to start Word. These changes are temporary and only affect the current print job. They will have to be re-set for each print job.

Changing Envelope Settings through Gorilla

  1. Start Gorilla.
  2. Click on the option “Messaging” from the main menu toolbar, and then select the option “Print Multiple Envelopes.” This will open the “Print Envelope/Labels” window.

  3. Fill out the information in the window for this print job. Be sure to check the box labeled “Choose an Envelope before Printing.”
  4. Click on the button labeled “Print Now.” A small window labeled “Instructions for Choosing an Envelope” will appear. Click on the button labeled “OK” in this window.

  5. Gorilla will now start a feature of Word that allows you to change the settings for your envelopes. Change the options within this window as needed.

  6. When finished, click on the button in this window labeled “Add to Document.” You will be returned to Gorilla and the print job will then proceed with the changes you made to the envelope.

Changing Label Settings through Gorilla

  1. Start Gorilla.
  2. Click on the option “Messaging” from the main menu toolbar, and then select the option “Print Multiple Labels.” This will open the “Print Envelope/Labels” window.

  3. Fill out the information in the window for this print job.
  4. Click on the button labeled “Choose Label.” A small window labeled “Instructions for Choosing an Envelope” will appear. Click on the button labeled “OK” in this window.

  5. Gorilla will now start a feature of Word that allows you to change settings for your Labels. Change the options within this window as needed.

  6. When finished, click on the button in this window labeled “Add to Document.” You will be returned to Gorilla and the print job will then proceed with the changes you made to the envelope.

Method 2: Changing envelope and label settings through MS Word.

Whereas the first method allows a one-time change to the default envelope and label settings, this method will change those settings and remain in effect until they are changed again.

Because these changes are made in Word, they are different for each version of Word. These instructions will cover Word 2000, 2002, and 2003. For other versions of Word, refer to your user documentation or visit Microsoft's website.

If you are using Word 2000, 2002, or 2003:

  1. On the Format menu, click Style.
  2. In the List box, select All Styles.
  3. In the Style box, select “Envelope Address” (or “Envelope Return”).
  4. Click “Modify.” This will bring up the “Modify Style” window.

  5. Make all the changes you wish through this window. When done, click the button labeled “OK.” The changes you made will now take affect for the current print job as well as all other print jobs until these settings are modified.
