Compile Error The Code in this Project must be Updated

Problem

When opening a letter, before or after merging, you get the error:
“Compile error:
The code in this project must be updated for use on 64-bit systems.
Please review and update Declare statements and then mark them with the PtrSafe attribute.”

Cause

This error is due to some G5 letters containing macros that were required for G4. While you can still use the letter after clicking past the error, it is definitely not ideal.

Solution

The letter will need to be recreated using the G5 Master Letter Template.

  1. Go to our  Letters Library and download the  Gorilla 5 Master Letter Template .
  2. Copy the body of the message from the letter that is causing the error, then close the letter.
  3. Open the Master Letter Template you just downloaded.
  4. Highlight the body of the message and delete it, then paste in the body of the message you copied.
  5. Click on File>Save as and save the letter using the name of the problem letter. This should prompt you to choose if you want to replace the existing file, click Yes.

This will resolve the issue for you right now. However, to prevent anyone else from having this issue, please reach out to Software Support at 801-553-9888 and alert them of which letter was causing the error. They will get it updated on our site.
