Compile Error: The Code in this Project must be Updated
PROBLEM
- When trying to send a letter, you get the following error:
Compile error:
The code in this project must be updated for use on 64-bit systems.
Please review and update Declare statements and then mark them with the PtrSafe attribute.
CAUSE
This error is caused by having Microsoft Office 64-bit installed on your machine. Gorilla does not support the use of Microsoft Office 64-bit. This is because Microsoft Office 64-bit does not support 32-bit COM addins. In fact, Microsoft itself recommends the use of the 32-bit version of Office.
SOLUTION
Check which version of Word you have to verify that it is indeed the 64-bit version installed:
Microsoft Office 2013
- Open a blank Word document.
- Click on File>Account
- Click on About Word
Once you have verified that you do have the 64-bit version of Word, you will need contact your IT department and request that they remove the 64 bit version of Office and then install the 32 bit version.
